We are proudly serving the Roanoke Valley and surrounding counties. Co-owned by husband and wife team, Tara and Stephen Fisher, we are committed to being a fun, positive, and family friendly environment for people to learn and train.

Tara began her Jiu-Jitsu journey at 28, and over the past 12 years of consistent training, the art has become her passion. She is currently an IBJJF-certified Brown Belt, representing a deep commitment to excellence. As she trains toward her Black Belt under Checkmat Lynchburg Jiu-Jitsu, Tara is excited to bring her love of the art and her positive energy to the Roanoke community, fostering an environment where every student can grow.

Stephen began his Jiu-Jitsu journey in the summer of 2011 at age 18. His foundational training started with the James Madison University Jiu-Jitsu club team, leading him to earn his blue belt while training at Fairfax Jiu-Jitsu for two years.

After relocating to Roanoke, VA, in 2018, Stephen continued to dedicate himself to the sport, earning his purple and brown belts through Checkmat Lynchburg.

Stephen is committed to sharing his deep passion for the sport. He is excited to guide his students while fostering the same positive communities and lasting friendships that have defined his decade-long commitment to jiu-jitsu.
